Punching Bag #2

I mentioned this in a previous post but thought I should re-emphasize it’s importance: when using a punching bag, attempt not to lean or push it.

The goal of a punching bag should be to move as naturally as you can while retaining attention on the spine + the center and entering the “flow.” The “flow” is what I call the chi running throughout the body. The feeling is one of something being filled up – like a stable water balloon being filled up with water.

This is something I am stressing because what occurs – when one pushes or attempts to manipulate the bag – is that one becomes dependent upon the punching bag. If the punching bag is removed immediately after it has been acted upon, chances are the person would stumble forward. There can be no dependence upon the bag.
