[From the video]: So this is an interesting predicament. The concept is nice – it is correct, gives instruction on what to do and it is at quite a high level – meaning that this is not something that is readily found.
The issue, however, is that the students are not able to understand the teachings. It is being wasted on them!!
In particular, the girl does not get it. You can see this in her eyes. The concept is simply not connecting. It’s not being taken seriously because it’s not being understood properly!
The takeaway from this video is: to know your level! If you are NOT getting it, then back off and be sure to let the instructor know this so they can adjust accordingly. There isn’t any benefit in chasing high-level concepts and techniques for their own sake. If it’s not getting through to you, back off!
The same applies to teaching. If you start seeing blank faces and far-off eyes, retreat and come back with something tangible and relatable!
